In 2011, J.R. Clancy accepted the challenge of equipping two performance halls simultaneously at Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. Muriel Kauffman Theatre, an 1,800-seat proscenium theatre, is the home to the Kansas City Ballet, Lyric Opera of Kansas City and hosts Broadway productions, and entertainers from around the world. With the wide variety of performances, Kauffam Theatre required ease of adaptability. J.R. Clancy provided 70 counterweight sets with a loading gallery, a steel-framed fire curtain, house curtain with a custom hoist, and a SceneControl pendant for the installed acoustic banners.
Within Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, J.R. Clancy was also working on equipping the 1,600-seat Helzberg Hall. J.R. Clancy provided seven chain motors for the 45,000 lb. suspended acoustical canopy, six Gala lifts, custom hoists for lighting and speakers, five point hoists and a SceneControl pendant to control the custom and point hoists.
