Whitney Hall, Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts

Louisville, Kentucky

Project Description:

Whitney Hall is a 2,377-seat, multipurpose concert facility at the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts in Louisville. Due to the wide variety of performances, Whitney Hall’s ceiling includes wooden acoustical tiles that can be repositioned to adjust the sound quality. In 2010, the hydraulic hoists that controlled these tiles became stick in place. To handle the rigging complexities of these tiles, theatre consultants Westlake, Reed, Leskosky turned to J.R. Clancy. J.R. Clancy replaced the nearly three-decade old hoist system with 32 electrically powered line shaft hoists, ranging in capacity from 4,500 lbs. to 12,000 lbs. For ease of operation, J.R. Clancy supplied a SceneControl® 500 control system to run all 32 hoists.

Products:

  • 32 Electrically powered line shaft hoists, 4,500 – 12,000 lb. capacity
  • SceneControl® 500
