Overview

The all new Summit hoist is a breakthrough in hoist engineering. We’ve taken all the reliability, capability, safety and reputation of J.R. Clancy hoists and incorporated those strengths into a design that’s remarkably easy to install, inspect and maintain.

NEW Turbo Mode: Increase productivity at reduced loads: At half load, the 0–30 fpm models run at 200% rated speed.

Summit is available in two models:

• Slow-speed model (30 ft per minute at 2,200 lb). Perfect for orchestra shells and electrics. Includes a variable-frequency drive, ensuring smooth starts and stops. This helps protect sensitive lighting fixtures from damage. Large sets and orchestra shells are also protected from undue stress.
• High-speed model (205 ft per minute at 1,500 lb). Perfect for general-purpose sets or main act curtains, this model closely matches the speed of a manual rigging system, making it a natural fit for fast scene changes.

Safety is always first

Protecting your sets and the people below is job #1. That’s why Summit includes a load brake mounted directly on the drum shaft. In the unlikely event of a motor or gearbox failure, the load is still securely held—protecting both your production and your crew.

Designed with installation and access in mind

Many hoists can be upwards of 14-feet long and up to 700 lb. That makes installation challenging without special equipment and a sizable crew. Summit is designed with a separate backbone (~125 lb) that can be secured to your grid first. A chain hoist can then be secured to the backbone for lifting the main Summit Hoist structure into position. Eight bolts are then used to hold the hoist safely in place.

Easy access for inspection and maintenance

Annual inspections are a requirement for most theatres. Summit’s open architecture allows fast, easy access to the drum, motor, and brake. Simply remove one panel for a clear view, making maintenance quick and straightforward.
